1941 - Tourists are attracted to the Alpena Wild Life Sanctuary by the thousands each year to view the ducks, geese and swan.

Some whooping cranes were spotted at Haydens Acres.
Alpena County pushes the animals along by having a Fish Hatchery (in the basement of City Hall).
